Karin Knott studied interior architecture at the Stuttgart Technical University of Applied Sciences and at Middlesex University in London. For over 25 years she has worked as an exhibition designer and project manager for renowned brands and museums worldwide. In addition to her exhibition design practice, she has been teaching at universities since 2003.

In 2008, she graduated from the University of the Arts in Berlin with a Master’s degree in Art in Context. Her main areas of study are “Working with Institutions” as well as “Art in Public Space.”

After her studies, she worked as a research associate and professor in the fields of architecture, design and interactive media at various universities in Southeast Asia. These include Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, as well as Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok.

From 2015 to 2021, in addition to her exhibition practice, she taught spatial design as an associate professor at the Oslo State University of the Arts. Her teaching and practice combine basic analytical inquiry as well as the development of experiential spaces across disciplinary boundaries.

She has led the Humboldt Labor as project director since November 2021.
