Kathleen Waak studied art history and classical archaeology (M.A.) at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and the Technischen Universität Berlin. From 2008 she was employed in various departments of the HU and since July 2016 she has been managing director of the Hermann von Helmholtz-Zentrum für Kulturtechnik (HZK). She is responsible for coordinating the content and organization of the Central Institute (ZI) with its four sub-areas: collections, exhibitions, teaching and research.
Together with the elected directors, she is accountable for the strategic and operative management of the ZI in technical, financial and personnel terms.
